Handling of "<" and ">" in SVN comit messages.

Postby phancox » Sat Jun 16, 2012 10:14 am

Looks as if the Subversion extract routines don't like "<" or ">" characters in the commit message.

SVN commit message was "[ts#1490] Replaced deprecated <layout> with <encoder>." and this is what standard SVN client reports.

However, TrackStudio reports the commit messages as "[ts#1490] Replaced deprecated with . "

It also garbles the list of affected modules. Rather than showing one module per line, they are shown on one line with "R," separating them.

/AppSrvcs/trunk/logback-test.xmlR, /AppSrvcs/trunk/logback-server.xmlR, /AppSrvcs/trunk/logback-debug.xmlR, /AppSrvcs/trunk/logback.xml

This is TrackStudio version 4.0.16

Well
I fixed trouble with special chars like '<' and '>'. But I could not repeat a problem with extra letter at the end of path like /AppSrvcs/trunk/logback-debug.xmlR
Could you possibly show me logs from your svn repo and what operations you did then I can repeat it?

I strongly suspect the two issues are related. The only place I've noticed the issue withe the "R," being apended and all the modules appearing on one line rather than each module on its own line was this case where the commit message had the "<" and ">" characters.

Perhaps you could run your tests for the fix you just did but apply the commit message to multiple modules and see if that reproduces the problem.

Most likely you've already fixed both issues.

Have just upgraded to TS 4.0.17 and it doesn't seem to have fixed the problem. After deleting the indexes and restarting, the SCM entry is still showing the same information it showed under TS 4.0.16 (refer original post).

Do I need to do anything other than delete the index directory to force extraction of commit messages rfom SVN?

Thanks for the update.

Presumably the fix will be released in 4.0.18? Do you have an approximate target date for the release?
